Labyrinths
The Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool that is thousands of years old. Although the 11 Circuit Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth has its roots in Christianity, it is found in all cultures and traditions. Its origins are from sacred geometry in nature, specifically the spiral and the circle. It is often inappropriately compared to a maze which is designed to confuse the walker by losing his or her way. A labyrinth is designed to calm and quiet the mind and to find your way. It is a walking meditation, a path of prayer.
There are many different labyrinth designs. For more information on different types of labyrinths, visit veriditas.org or labyrinthos.net
Our Labyrinth
I had envisioned a labyrinth for 20 years before it actually manifested in 2014. During those 20 years, I collected the rocks from the ocean at Campos Beach, Maine as well as rocks from the lead mind that we live on.
My brother-in-law Paul, who does excavation work and my husband, who is an engineer, built the labyrinth in a matter of days. I was responsible for the placement of all the rocks that did not require heavy equipment.
